Charlotte Perriand (1903–1999) was a leading figure in 20th-century design. At just 24, she gained critical acclaim for her groundbreaking collection of metal furniture. By the mid-1930s, she began exploring natural materials such as wood and cane, expanding her creative language. In 1940, Perriand traveled to Japan as an official advisor to the Ministry for Trade and Industry, where she developed a deep appreciation for traditional Japanese craftsmanship and materials. Her philosophy emphasized the integration of art and design, with a belief that well-crafted spaces can positively impact society.
